STUDIO POLICIES

Welcome to Dance Studio 84! We are glad you’re here and appreciate your business! Please read our studio policies below.

Parent observation days

Parents are invited to watch classes on the first lesson of each month. The only exception to this is for the 2 year old classes, where parents can watch every week.

Performances

All of our combo, tap, contemporary, jazz, tumbling and hip hop classes will perform in our Annual June Recital. This usually takes place the first weekend of June at Glendale High School. Our combo classes will also perform in the Holiday Variety Show. This show is in December, usually at Hart High School. Our straight ballet classes will perform in our Nutcracker Ballet in December. All of our performances are optional. If your child chooses to not be in the show, they can still participate in classes. There are additional expenses for these shows including costumes and tickets. The studio also performs at community events throughout the year.

Tuition

  1. Tuition is based on a year-round curriculum (average of 4 classes per month, with June only being a half month). Some months will have 5 classes, while others will only have 3 due to holidays when we are closed. Tuition remains the same (except for June which is 1/2).

  2. All tuition is due on the first lesson of each calendar month. Tuition not paid on or before the 8th of each month will be subject to a 10% late fee.

  3. There are NO refunds or credits for absences. Make-ups are available in other classes within six weeks of the absence.

  4. Credits will be issued for any classes that the studio cancels, unless a rehearsal time is added to substitute.

  5. There will be a $25 charge for all returned checks.

  6. All accounts must be paid up to date before a student is able to take part in any performance. If an account becomes more than two months delinquent and arrangements have not been made, student will not be allowed back in class until account is paid to date, including late fees.

  7. All students enrolled in May are required to pay for June tuition. All students enrolled in November are required to pay for December tuition. June (1/2 month) is due with May tuition on May 1.

  8. Autopay- We encourage you to sign up for Autopay to avoid late fees. Autopay will deduct tuition from your account on the 1st of each month. We will not deduct anything else from your Autopay account (for example: competition fees, costumes, performance fees, etc.). On the first of May you will be charged for May and 1/2 of June.

  9. Dropping a class- We will not give a refund or credit for classes dropped after the first of the month. The studio must receive a drop form via email or in person by the 20th for a class being dropped the following month.

  10. We do not accept American Express

  11. Tuition will be rounded up to the nearest dollar amount.

Dress Code

Appropriate clothing and shoes must be worn to class. NO STREET SHOES ARE ALLOWED ON OUR DANCE FLOORS. Please label all shoes with name. Dancers should always have their hair away from their face. The following is a list of recommendations, as to the appropriate dress for class:

1. Combination classes: Any color and/or style leotard, skirt/tutu, tights, dancewear combination, black tap shoes, pink ballet shoes.
2. Tap classes: black patent leather style with elastic/ ribbons, or buckle tap shoes. Students must be studying Grade 5 tap technique or the majority of the class must be in junior high to wear the “jazz tap” style shoes. In that case, the instructor will inform you as to the brand and style.
3. Ballet classes: required- black leotards, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in bun.
4. Jazz classes: dance wear, no street clothes, black or tan jazz shoes (specified by instructor). Bloch split soles are preferred.
5. Hip Hop classes: loose street clothes that provide coverage, NON-SKID, CLEAN soled shoes. NO SHOES THAT HAVE BEEN WORN OUTSIDE. Just as in all other styles of dance, students should have a pair of shoes dedicated to hip hop.
6. Tumbling classes:  dance wear that is form fitting.  No shoes.
7. PLEASE DO NOT WEAR YOUR DANCE SHOES OUTSIDE OF THE STUDIO. This will only bring dirt onto the floors. Put your dance shoes on in the lobby then bring your dance bags into the room.
