Dance Studio 84
Our History:
Established more than 30 years ago, this studio is the longest operating dance studio in the Santa Clarita Valley – first as Alex Romero’s Dance Studio, then Reena’s Dance Studio, and now Dance Studio 84. Since 1986, Carla Hunt Smallwood has been the owner/director. During this time, the studio has grown to have a student body of approximately 900 students, has a curriculum that includes more than 100 classes per week, and is located in a state of the art 9000 square foot facility. Thousands of young dancers have passed through our doors and we truly believe most look back very fondly at their time at Dance Studio 84.
Why we feel we are special:
With so many years under our belt, we are a very organized and professionally run business. At the same time, we maintain a friendly and fun atmosphere where all can be a part of a huge extended family. Many of the staff members – whom are all extensively trained dancers, performers, and instructors - have been affiliated with the studio for more than 10 years. With such a wonderful faculty and facility, we are able to provide a curriculum that can cater to the most very beginner student and a professional level dancer at the same time. Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Special Needs, Boys Only, Lyrical, Adult Fitness Program – and our own performance group, Company 84 – are offered in a variety of levels. A huge percentage of our students have danced with us for years, many for more than ten years. All of our students have the opportunity to perform. We are very busy throughout the year with preparations for June Recitals, December Nutcracker Ballet, Holiday Variety Shows, Parades, Competitions, and many community events including Expos, Concerts, Halloween shows, high school dance team Shows, and so much more. It is a fun place to be – and a great place to grow up!

What we offer and how much it costs:
For children ages 3 to approximately 7 years old, we offer combination classes which include tap, jazz, & ballet. We feel this is the best introduction to dance and provides a variety of styles to keep the children active & interested. Our ballet classes start for 1st graders in January, and then they are invited to perform in the following Nutcracker as our favorite “Snow Trees”. Hip Hop is hugely popular – these classes start with kindergartners. Usually in 2nd or 3rd grade, most combination classes split into tap and jazz classes. Our adult classes include tap for beginner thru advanced, yoga, and jazz stretch. We don’t print out a schedule of our classes to pass out, as we prefer to place students in classes we feel are most appropriate – where they can be pushed to their maximum potential at all times, while succeeding in doing so. A one hour class per week is $45.00 each month. We also offer 45 minute classes as well as 90 minute higher level classes. Discounts apply for multiple classes and/or family members. Our rates are always very competitive, and we honestly feel you are getting the most for your money at Dance Studio 84. Trial classes are always free.
